This retreat qualifies as a prerequisite for the Mindfulness-Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP). Appropriate for Time Zones ranging from Pacific Time Zone (starts at 6 a.m.) through Eastern European Time Zone (ends at 12 a.m.) 

Description: Mindfulness practice brings us into intimate contact with our deeper selves and our relationship with our world. Mindfulness consists of bringing attention to present moment experiences with an attitude of allowing. Present moment awareness includes the experience of our body, our emotions, our mind, and our environment.

 

While mindfulness for a few moments may be simple, sustained mindfulness is not easy. It takes practice. Yet, as we find ourselves mindful in more and more moments, we start to uncover a richness, both internally and externally, that we did not realize was there. We also start to discover the nuts and bolts of how our mind-body systems work, often in unseen ways. As we understand ourselves better, we find we can be more skillful in our thoughts and behavior as we navigate the world.

In this retreat we will explore:

 

  • Cultivating a deeper sense of embodiment--finding a sense of aliveness and home in the body

  • Becoming more intimate with our emotions--the lifeblood of how we relate to each other

  • Clarifying how the mind works--the nature of thought and our habits of thought

  • Deepening a sense of self-kindness--which nurtures our growth and our healing

  • Engaging in self-inquiry--exploring our subconscious experience and beginning to untangle from old beliefs, fears and hurts

The retreat will include:

  • Talks on “What Mindfulness Is and How to Engage In It”

  • Guided mindfulness and kindness meditations

  • Group and/or individual meetings with the teacher

  • Periods of unguided sitting and walking meditation

  • Gentle mindful movement instruction

About the Teacher: Stan Eisenstein has been teaching mindfulness and meditation since 2012. He has trained with Tara Brach, Jonathan Foust, and Hugh Byrne. Stan is a teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. He is also a mentor for the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, taught by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield and offered through Sounds True. Stan regularly teaches courses in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Inviting Chronic Pain and Illness to Tea, Self-Inquiry, Meditative Reparenting, Deepening Embodiment, and Cultivating the Heart. Retreat Information: This is an online retreat via Zoom. The schedule for each day runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. [Note: Please take your time zone into consideration. Pacific Time Zone participants will be online from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Eastern European Time Zone participants will be online from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. MMTCP participants will be asked to include some off-line meditation time before and/or after the online portion of the retreat.]

Tuition: The complete cost of the retreat is $750 US. In contrast to most similar retreats, there will be no request for donations to the teacher and manager at the end of the retreat. To apply for a scholarship, please contact Stan.

Registration and Payment: To register, select the Register button below and complete the form. Before you submit the form, visit the Donate page to pay your tuition via credit or debit card or PayPal. You may submit a 50% down payment ($375 US) with full payment due by April 18. 

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel by March 20, 2026, for a 90% refund. If you cancel between March 21 and April 17, you will receive a 50% refund. There will be no refund for cancellation after April 18.

I went into the retreat with little expectation, just knowing that Stan is a wonderful teacher. What unfolded felt life-changing. The second night I really wrestled with the topic and what came up for me but trusted the following day whatever Stan presented would shed light. The following day I had such a profound experience. Stan's guidance throughout the retreat was unparalleled in the variety of teachings he incorporated and balancing that with periods without guidance to let those teachings do their work. I began a much needed homecoming this weekend, and I imagine the benefits will continue as I integrate the teachings and experiences from the retreat. The container and rhythm created by the managers and teacher, the guidance through all stages of the retreat, the availability of the retreat managers and teacher, the felt sense of sincere welcoming and openness of the community, and the balance of guided and unguided meditations, all worked together to allow me to reconnect with my body. I was invited to resume healing old wounds in a trauma-informed and respectful way, and open to a sense of loving awareness holding it all.

I moved through a great deal of physical pain and discomfort, greeting and accepting them. I investigated my reactions to daily uncertainties in my work as a secondary teacher during the pandemic and felt a moment of the ease that accompanies the spontaneous freedom of accepting, rather than fighting against. In the relatively short span of the retreat, and with the expert guidance of the teachers, I touched into some new ways of cultivating self kindness or metta. The practice described as "reparenting" which I admit I was somewhat skeptical of at first, was surprisingly powerful and I look forward to exploring it further. The retreat was a well-balanced mix of sitting, walking, Dharma talks, and engaging with the teachers and participants.

The teachers' and managers' welcomes created a space where I could welcome more and more of myself throughout the weekend. I was surprised by what I came to be aware of during the retreat. As a practitioner and teacher of Vipassana mindfulness this retreat was expansive and transformative for me. Enjoyed Stan’s version of RAIN which was a different journey that resonated with me. Also enjoyed the Spiritual Heart Meditation, timing was perfect. The hybrid format was a wonderful opportunity for me because driving the distance wasn’t possible at this time and also the cost was considerably lower. Even though I missed the in-person energy I felt that there was an online sangha. I very much enjoyed that ability to hear from the in-person participants there comments during the integration portion of the retreat. Overall perfect timing and wonderful way to stay connected with other mindfulness meditators.
