10 minutes | This meditation (one of a series of three) assists in coming to a state of presence, embodiment and groundedness. We can think of a busy mind like an energetic horse. In order to get this horse to settle, we give it a wide space to run around in so it can use up its energy. Similarly, we allow a busy mind to settle by widening awareness and letting the mind simply run. This process is also helpful for a sleepy mind, where we can invite the feelings of sleepiness to seep out into a wider awareness. This helps the mind start to become more energized. As the mind calms down or perks up, the attention can gradually be narrowed. This meditation is helpful with letting go of stress and tension and cultivating focus. It can be used at the start of a meeting, a project that requires focus, or a deeper meditation. Photo by Mariana Proenca on Unsplash.
